Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how "SMS Reminder for Google Calendar" ("the App") provided by the "Fractal Apps" team ("the Company") collects, uses, and discloses information when you use the App and related services (the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

1. Scope

This Privacy Policy applies to information processed through the Service, including within Google Calendar™, our web portal, and any related websites or support channels operated by the Company.

2. Google API Services User Data Policy (Limited Use)

The App accesses Google user data via Google APIs. The App's use of that data is limited to providing or improving user-facing features. We do not use Google user data for advertising, do not sell, rent, or trade it to any third party, and do not use it to build or train generalized AI/ML models. Specifically, we do not use Google user data for any of the following purposes: targeted or personalized advertising, selling to data brokers or information resellers, determining credit-worthiness or for lending purposes, creating databases, or training AI models.

3. Google user data we access

The App requests the following Google OAuth scopes and accesses the corresponding Google user data:

  • Email address (via the userinfo.email scope) — used to identify your account for managing your usage quota, subscription status, and team membership.
  • Calendar add-on execution (via the calendar.addons.execute scope) — required for the App to run as a Google Calendar™ add-on.
  • Current event access (via the calendar.addons.current.event.read scope) — used to read the details of the calendar event you have open, including event title, date, time, and location, to pre-fill reminder details.
  • Sidebar interface (via the script.container.ui scope) — used to display the add-on sidebar within Google Calendar™ where you interact with the App.
  • External network requests (via the script.external_request scope) — used to communicate with our backend server for SMS delivery, subscription management, and usage tracking.
  • Locale information (via the script.locale scope) — used to format dates and times according to your regional preferences.

4. SMS and messaging data

When you send an SMS reminder through the App, the following information is transmitted to our backend server and forwarded to our SMS delivery provider (Telnyx) for message delivery:

  • The recipient's phone number
  • The recipient's name (if provided)
  • The message content (appointment details and reminder text)

We store a log of sent messages, including the recipient phone number, message content, delivery status, and any replies received, for the purpose of providing delivery tracking, confirmation status, and reminder history to you. Message logs are retained for the duration of your account and may be deleted upon request.

Important: You are responsible for obtaining appropriate consent from your clients or contacts before sending them SMS reminders through the Service. By using the Service, you represent that you have the necessary consent to send messages to the phone numbers you provide.

5. Team and organization data

The Service supports team accounts where multiple users share a single subscription and SMS quota. When you create or join a team, we store your email address, team role (owner, admin, or member), and associate your usage with your organization's account. Team owners can invite members by email or enable domain-based auto-joining. We store pending invitations and the email addresses of invited users until the invitation is accepted, declined, or revoked.

6. Other information we collect

A. Usage and diagnostic data

We may collect usage and diagnostic data such as feature usage counts (number of reminders sent), timestamps, delivery statuses, error logs, and device/browser information to operate, maintain, and improve the Service.

B. Payment information

If you subscribe to a paid plan, payment is processed by Stripe. We do not store your credit card number or full payment details. Stripe may collect information as described in Stripe's Privacy Policy.

C. Cookies (website and portal only)

Our web portal and any marketing or documentation websites may use cookies or similar technologies to operate, authenticate users, and remember preferences. You can refuse cookies in your browser settings; however, some features may not work.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your Google user data or your clients' phone numbers to any third party. We do not use your data for advertising or any purpose unrelated to providing or improving the Service.

8. Data retention and deletion

We retain personal data (such as your email address, usage counts, and message logs) only as long as necessary to provide the Service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. Calendar event data is accessed in real-time and is not stored on our servers beyond what is necessary for reminder scheduling.

All messages sent through the Service include opt-out instructions. Recipients may reply STOP at any time to unsubscribe from future messages. We honor all opt-out requests immediately.

As a user of the Service, you are responsible for complying with all applicable laws and regulations regarding SMS messaging in your jurisdiction, including obtaining appropriate consent from recipients before sending messages.

12. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect your information, including encryption of data in transit (HTTPS/TLS), secure authentication for API communications, and access controls for stored data. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

13. International data transfers

Your information may be processed in countries other than your own depending on where the Company and its service providers operate. Where required, we take steps designed to ensure appropriate safeguards are in place for cross-border transfers.

14. Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict certain processing of your personal data. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at sean@fractalapps.dev. We will respond to your request within 30 days.

15. Children's privacy
