This Privacy Policy describes how "Nimbus" ("the Extension") provided by the "FractalApps" team ("the Company") handles information when you use the Extension and related services (the "Service"). By installing or using the Service, you agree to the handling of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy.
This Privacy Policy applies to information processed through the Service, including within the Google Chrome™ browser, the web pages on which the Extension displays its break reminder, and any related websites or support channels operated by the Company.
The Extension does not collect, transmit, sell, or share any personal data. It has no user accounts, no sign-in, no analytics, and no backend servers. It makes no network requests of any kind. Your preferences are stored on your own device and are never sent anywhere. The Extension does not use Google APIs and does not request access to your Google account.
The Extension reminds you to rest your eyes at an interval you choose. When a break begins, it draws a soft glow around the inside edge of the browser window for the length of the break, then removes it. That is the Extension's entire function.
The Extension does not read, collect, store, or transmit the content of any web page you visit. It does not access page text, images, form fields, cookies, or page addresses (URLs). It does not record your browsing history, the sites you visit, or the titles of pages you open. It does not monitor clicks, keystrokes, scrolling, mouse position, or any other interaction with a page.
On each page you visit, the Extension adds a single transparent overlay element used to display the glow. This overlay is non-interactive (it cannot be clicked and does not intercept input), is contained within a closed shadow root so it does not affect the page's own styles or scripts, and is removed when the break ends. The overlay only ever writes to the page; it never reads from it.
The Extension stores the following using the Google Chrome™ storage APIs, specifically chrome.storage.local:
This information remains on your device. It is not transmitted to the Company or to any third party, because the Extension has no server to transmit it to. Removing the Extension from Chrome deletes it.
The Extension requests the minimum permissions necessary to function:
<all_urls>) — the glow is drawn on the page you are
currently viewing. Because a break can fall while you are on any site, the Extension must be able to display the
overlay on any site; it cannot know in advance which page will be open when the timer elapses. This access is used
solely to add the overlay described in Section 4, and never to read page content. The narrower
activeTab permission cannot be used, because it grants access only after you click the Extension's
toolbar icon, and a break reminder must appear on its own.storage) — saves the settings and timer state described in Section 5 on your
device.alarms) — schedules the next break. Chrome shuts down idle extensions, so a
scheduled alarm is the only reliable way for the Extension to wake at the correct time.sidePanel) — displays the countdown and settings interface in Chrome's
side panel. The Company does not receive any information from the Extension and therefore does not use, process, or analyse any user information. The settings stored on your device are used only by the Extension itself, and only to display your break reminders as you have configured them.
We do not sell, rent, or trade user data to any third party. We do not use data for advertising, for determining credit-worthiness or for lending purposes, for building databases, or for training AI or machine-learning models.
The Company retains no user data, because none is collected. The settings described in Section 5 are held on your device
for as long as the Extension is installed and are deleted when you uninstall it. You can also clear them at any time by
removing the Extension from chrome://extensions.
If you have any question about data associated with the Service, email support@fractalapps.dev. We will respond within 30 days.
The Company holds no user information and therefore has none to disclose. Should we ever be required to respond to a lawful request for information, we would have no user data to provide.
The Extension uses no third-party services. It contains no analytics, telemetry, advertising, error-reporting, or third-party scripts, and includes no remote code. All code in the Extension is contained within the published package.
Because the Extension transmits no data, there is no transmission to secure and no stored user data held by the Company that could be exposed. Settings stored on your device are protected by Chrome's own extension storage isolation, which prevents other extensions and web pages from reading them.
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict the processing of your personal data. As the Company holds no personal data relating to you, there is nothing for us to disclose, correct, or erase. Data stored locally by the Extension is under your direct control and is removed when you uninstall it. To raise any question regarding these rights, contact us at support@fractalapps.dev. We will respond within 30 days.
The Extension collects no personal information from anyone, including children under the age of 13 (or a higher age threshold where required by local law). It is suitable for use at any age.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If a future version of the Extension ever handles data differently, this page will be updated before that version is released. We will post the updated policy on this page and update the "Last updated" date. Changes are effective when posted. Your continued use of the Service after changes become effective constitutes acceptance.
