An animation compares the same board agenda before and after fixing it. Before: two visual headings are announced as ordinary text, a bar chart is announced only as “graphic”, and the table header row is read as ordinary cells. After: the headings are announced with their levels, the chart is described, and each value is announced with the column it belongs to.

Findings that tell you which rule, and why it matters.
Every card names the WCAG success criterion and, where one applies, the Matterhorn Protocol condition behind it. Those citations are checked against the published protocol on every build, so a reference in the panel is a reference you can quote in a compliance report.

Some things cannot be judged from a document - whether a description is accurate, whether colour is the only cue. Those are reported for you to decide rather than quietly passed.
Permissions
Our app can only open the file you opened it in.
Most accessibility add-ons ask to see, edit and delete every document in your Google account. This one asks for the current-file scopes instead, which means Google itself will not hand the add-on any other file. That is enforced by the platform, not promised in a policy.

The Drive permission exists for one reason: saving the PDF you asked it to make. The add-on cannot read anything already in your Drive.
PDF export
Google’s PDF export throws away everything you just fixed.
File → Download → PDF produces a file with no structure at all: no headings, no table relationships, no alt text, no reading order. A screen reader gets an undifferentiated wall of text, and nothing you did in the document survives.

Headings become real heading elements, tables keep their header cells and scope, images keep their descriptions, and decorative images are marked as artifacts rather than left as empty figures.

Every export is run through a PDF/UA validator and the result is reported to you - including the findings, in plain language, if any remain. You are told what is in the file, not reassured about it.

Manual page breaks, columns, headers and footers, text boxes and positioned drawings are not reproduced. Semantic fidelity is worth more than a pixel match that no reader can follow.

Questions
Straight answers.
Does a clean result mean my document is compliant?
No, and any tool that tells you otherwise is overselling. This checks what can be determined from the source document - the great majority of real barriers, and all of the common ones. Some conditions can only be judged by a person: whether a description is accurate, whether a table actually holds data, whether colour is the only thing carrying meaning. Those are reported for your decision.
The exported PDF is separately validated against PDF/UA, and you are shown the result rather than a reassurance.
What is the ADA Title II deadline?
The Department of Justice rule adopting WCAG 2.1 Level AA for state and local government web content and mobile apps sets compliance dates in April 2026 and April 2027, depending on population size. Documents posted by a public entity - agendas, minutes, board packets, course materials - fall within scope.

Can it see my other documents?
No. The add-on requests the current-file scopes, so Google will not give it any file except the one you opened it in. The Drive permission it does request covers only files it creates itself, which is how the exported PDF gets saved. Neither of those can read anything else in your Drive.
What gets sent outside Google?
The scan itself runs entirely inside Google Workspace. Six tasks need a language model - writing an image description, rewriting link text, suggesting a document title, distinguishing duplicate headings, naming a slide, naming a sheet - and each sends only the fragment it needs. Your document is never uploaded.
Why not just use Google’s own PDF export?
Because it discards the structure. A PDF from File → Download has no tags at all, so headings are not headings, tables are not tables, and alt text is simply absent. Everything corrected in the document is lost at the moment of export. That is not a criticism of a checker - it is why exporting from inside this add-on exists.
How does the free trial work?
Five checks free. A check that finds nothing costs you nothing, so a document that is already clean does not use one up. Applying fixes and exporting the PDF are covered by the check that found the problems - one document costs one check, however many times you export it.
Does it work with Slides and Sheets?
Yes. Slides has its own checks for reading order, title placeholders, text outside placeholders and speaker notes. Sheets covers frozen header rows, merged cells, blank header cells, hidden sheets holding data and cell notes. Tagged PDF export currently supports Docs; Slides and Sheets report honestly that it is not yet available rather than producing a file that would fail.
